The TaylorMade R9 Irons provide improved technologies for enhanced distance, control and feel, combined with clean, simple lines that appeal to more traditional tastes. When TaylorMade set out to design the R9 irons, they knew they had to make a more forgiving golf iron than they had ever done before. The R9 Irons features a dual head design made for both performance and control. The 3-5 irons feature a high repulsion face with hollow cavity structure for increased distance. The 6-Wedge feature a more compact undercut pocket cavity with a focus on feel, control and accuracy. The R9 features variable face thickness. Starting with 2.0mm thick face in the long irons to 2.3mm in the mid irons and 2.5mm in the short irons for enhanced feel.

 

 

The R9 irons are thin faced game-improvement irons designed to increase ball speed and distance. Staffed with a straight forward, tear drop shape face, these irons definitely provides for a nice look and feel at address.

 

Like the R7, the clubface of the TaylorMade R9 uses the inverted cone technology on the inner side of the clubface for consistent ball speed on off-center hits. Using that as their foundation, the new TaylorMade R9 irons were designed separately from the short irons to optimize performance in each club.   I am a 10 handicap and had a hard time deciding between the TaylorMade R9 Irons standard model and TP model. Went with standard model, and I'm very happy with them. I hit these irons higher and 10 yards further than my old irons.

  Great Golf irons! Nice looks, comfortable weight, very smooth off the face and a nice sound when hitting the ball, I am happy with the R9 irons.

  I am a senior golfer and love the feel of them. The ball literally jumps off the face. Even mis-hits are better than a good hit off my old clubs. About the only problem I have now is I have to get used to my new distance. Every club goes at least 10 yards farther. The grips produce a solid feel with very little pressure.

  They are long and very forgiving.I'm in my early sixties and play to an 11 handicap, these clubs have given back the distance I lost. Highly recommended!

  I think TaylorMade R9 Irons are longer, more forgiving, have a better feel, and are more workable than any other game improvement club on the market.
